Treating palpable testes

Surgery for palpable testes includes orchidofunicolysis and orchidopexy, either via an inguinal or scrotal approach.

Inguinal orchidopexy is a widely used technique with a high success rate of up to 92%

Important steps include mobilization of the testis and spermatic cord to the level of the internal inguinal ring, with dissection and division of all cremasteric fibers, to prevent secondary retraction and detachment of the gubernaculum testis.

Low-positioned, palpable undescended testis can be fixed through a scrotal incision including division of the gubernaculum, and the processus vaginalis needs to be probed to check for patency.
